What distinguishes the skin on the feet?

Sweat glands ensure that the skin gets moisture. However, this moisture is not always sufficient to provide adequate protection against drying out. Especially with mature skin and lack of foot care, the skin becomes drier and cracks form. The mature skin therefore needs appropriate care on a regular basis.
How often should the feet be cared for?
To keep your feet healthy, daily foot care should become routine and go beyond showering every day. Clean the skin of your feet with a moisturizing washing lotion that also contains moisture-binding urea (urea). The spaces between the toes should not be forgotten either. After cleaning, dry the skin carefully so that no athlete's foot or nail fungus develops, because the pathogens like to settle in a moist environment. The formation of cornea can be regularly counteracted with a salicylic acid cream, which softens the cornea. With a pumice stone you can remove particularly hardened areas on the soles of the feet and on the heels. However, you should not remove too much cornea, as otherwise the natural protection of the feet becomes too thin and they can be injured more easily.
Foot baths as a supplement to foot care?
Foot baths with herbs have a healing effect. A foot bath with antiperspirant additives such as oak bark or sage helps with problems with foot sweat. The tannins act on the sweat glands and ensure that the pores contract. To do this, boil two tablespoons of the respective herbs in half a liter of water for 20 minutes. Then pour the brew into the foot bath, which is a maximum of 35 ° C. You should bathe your feet in it for a maximum of 10 minutes. To achieve an effect, you should repeat the foot baths regularly for one to two days for several weeks.
Tending to thickened cornea helps a brine foot bath. To do this, put half a cup of rock or sea salt in a bowl of warm water. The salt is not only cleaning, but also germicidal. The feet are then rinsed off. After each foot bath, rub your feet with a moisturizing foot lotion so that the skin becomes supple again.
More tips for foot care
Put on fresh socks every day, preferably made of cotton or other natural fibers. Avoid shoes that are too tight or rubbing so that corns or blisters do not appear. In summer you should - as often as possible - walk barefoot in nature. Walking along a sandy beach or along a river bank has a soothing massage effect on your feet and promotes mobility.
